Sean Burstyn Reunites with Juncos Racing for Autobahn Doubleheader Event  This Weekend

Vero Beach, Fla., July 27, 2010 – Sean Burstyn, who
competed with Juncos Racing in the team’s inaugural
season in the Star Mazda Championship presented
by Goodyear in 2009, will reunite with the Floridabased
team for this weekend’s doubleheader event
at the Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, Illinois.
Burstyn turned out his best result of the season last
year at the 3.56-mile course with a fifth place finish,
making the track both a likeable and memorable
place for the young South Beach, Florida native.
“I’m so excited to be back,” said Burstyn. “Last year I was privileged to be able to drive
with the best team, car and driver in the series, and I’m proud to be able to do that again
this weekend at Autobahn Country Club. I also want to thank my sponsor, The
Collection, for supporting me at this event. I’m looking forward to recreating another
great race weekend with the Juncos Racing team.”
Burstyn, who is now a college student at the George Washington University Elliott
School of International Affairs and Executive Board member of ChabadGW, also
participated in a private test with Juncos Racing at the southern Chicago road course
two weeks ago as part of his preparation for this weekend’s activities. Burstyn will be
sponsored for the weekend by The Collection, a luxury automotive dealership based in
South Florida.

“I’m so glad to have Sean (Burstyn) back racing again,” said Team Owner Ricardo
Juncos. “He was one of the first Juncos Racing drivers starting back in 2003, so the
amount of years we have spent together makes his relationship with the whole team
that much stronger. Last year at Autobahn Country Club, Sean achieved an amazing
result of fifth place in the first race that weekend, and I believe he could’ve finished even
better than that for the second race if he hadn’t had problems with his throttle.
“We tested there two weeks ago and after almost a year of not driving a racecar, Sean
really surprised us with the quick lap times he was doing. I’m very confident that this
weekend will be a good one for him and the whole team. Autobahn Country Club is a
track that he really likes and has always been fast at, so I know he is looking forward to
it as much as we are.”
Teammates Conor Daly, Tatiana Calderon and Rusty Mitchell also participated in the
private test two weeks ago to prepare for rounds eight and nine of the 2010 Star Mazda
Championship. Daly, 18, has had an impressive run in the 2010 season thus far by
winning four races in a row, matching the record for most consecutive races won, and
never finishing outside the top four positions in seven total rounds. The Noblesville,
Indiana native now leads the driver’s championship by an overwhelming 41 points over
Andersen Racing’s Anders Krohn.
Rookie Tatiana Calderon left the last event at New Jersey Motorsports Park with her
personal best race of the season under her belt. The young Colombian matched her
best result of ninth position and thrived on the 2.25-mile road course. The 3.56-mile
track at Autobahn Country Club is anticipated to be the perfect match for the 17-yearold’s
precise driving style, giving her the perfect chance to achieve her first top-five
finish of the 2010 season.
This weekend will be the third race weekend with Juncos Racing for veteran Star Mazda
driver Rusty Mitchell. The Texas boy joined the Championship leaders for round five at
Iowa Speedway in June with plans to finish the 2010 season strongly as a Juncos
Racing competitor and help the team in its running for the Team Championship title.
Mitchell had an extremely successful test at Autobahn Country Club two weeks ago,
leaving as one of the fastest drivers of the week and setting exciting expectations for
success this weekend.

The doubleheader weekend in Joliet, Illinois will also constitute rounds four and five of
the Visit Florida Cup, this season’s “championship within a championship”. The driver
with the most points at the end of the seven-race Cup will win a Floridian dream
vacation, courtesy of Visit Florida, the state’s official tourism corporation. Conor Daly is
currently tied for second place in the Cup with 110 points, just eight points behind leader
Tristan Vautier. Thanks to the partnership with Visit Florida, this weekend’s events will
also be broadcast live on HDNet.
On-track sessions for the Autobahn Country Club event begin Thursday, July 29 with
promoter testing and continue through Sunday, August 1 concluding the weekend with
race two. For more information, please go to www.juncosracing.com.August 4th, 2009

Debut Team,  Juncos Racing, Sweeps the Autobahn doubleheader:

Juncos Racing and its “Steamrolling” driver, Irishman, Peter Dempsey, set the fastest times during official testing, took the poles and never looked back at Star Mazda championship Rounds Eight and Nine.

American teammate Sean Burstyn ran third fastest in official testing, as he also did his at the Iowa Speedway, and came away with a season best 5th place finish on the first of the event’s two races.

Impressive for a rookie team. After a rich history of racing championships in North and South America, Juncos Racing entered the Star Mazda championship as a rookie team this year with rookie drivers and high expectations. The team did not disappoint.

By mid-season of its first year of competition, Juncos Racing has now set a record for consecutive victories by a rookie team. Three.

Sean Burstyn’s third best time at the Iowa Speedway was also his first oval experience.

Great test at the Autobahn Country Club! Last week the team enjoyed a fast and safe 3-day drive around the 3.5 mile track. With over 20 corners, just knowing which corner came next was a challenge in and of itself. By the end of the first day I was lapping fairly quickly. Autobahn is a great racecourse and is similar to the Sebring International Raceway because of the distance and patches of bumpy asphalt which make each corner truly unique. On day 3 I was the fastest car on track with a solid lap time of 1:13:17.04. My teammates also did an excellent job we’re hoping for a Juncos Racing 1st, 2nd and 3rd place throughout the double-header race on July 25th and 26th. The race will be aired live on HDNet at 1pm on both days, so be sure to root for us if you can’t make it to Chicago!

December 20th, 2008

Homestead, Florida- On the weekend of December 20th, 2008 Juncos Racing brought three cars to the FARA 2008 Season Finale and 2009 Season Opener at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. Sean Burstyn and Michael Furfari drove Formula Mazdas in the “F-01” class for a 1st and 2nd place finish. Burstyn secured the 2008 championship by winning on Saturday and the team was pleased when 15-year-old Furfari finished 2nd in his first race. Walt Bowlin raced a Formula Renault 2000 in the “F-02” class. Bowlin won in his class on both days and looks forward to when he begins working with Juncos Racing’s Pro Formula Mazda program. Burstyn won on Sunday by over 25 seconds. Furfari made it to the podium again with a solid 3rd place finish. Juncos Racing packed up from the doubleheader with six trophies, the 2008 FARA championship and the lead in the 2009 season in the F-01 and F-02 classes. The next stop will be a two day test in Sebring, Florida.

Last month's race on July 13th at the Homestead Miami Speedway was going well until halfway through qualifying. I held the pole position by over a 3 second lead until I crashed. I was coming into the pits when it started to rain and I immediately lost control of the car and hit the wall. It was my first crash ever. The telemetry indicates that I made contact with the wall at over 100mph. I am very fortunate to have been able to walk out of the car without a scratch. My moral has not been lowered, but rather my trust in the crew and confidence in the car has been raised. I greatly appreciate all the work that the Star Mazda series does to make sure the drivers are safe. I have analyzed all aspects of the incident and am fully prepared to go for first place next month during the race on September 27th.

March 8th, 2007

After a few months to consider my options, I have decided to compete in the Star Mazda Pro Series. The thousand pound cars are propelled by a 240hp Mazda rotary motor. The championship provides large fields with many young and talented up-and-coming drivers. I have been testing extensively throughout the off season with different teams and have now decided to join John Walko Racing in the season opener on March 16th in Sebring, Florida. John Walko Racing provides the necessary professionalism and experience for success. Please come back for my post race report and updates.
